Beste allen / Dear all,
De afgelopen jaren volgde filmmaker Jess De Gruyter mezelf en Anton Cotteleer een tijdlang met de camera.
Corona gooide roet in het eten wat betreft het tonen van deze kortfilms. Uiteindelijk is het toch zover!
ZATERDAG 25 MAART 2023 gaan de twee kortfilms in première in FILMHUIS KLAPPEI.
(Klappeistraat 2 / 2060 Antwerpen)
Gezien het een kleine zaal is (50 plaatsen), zijn er verschillende voorstellingen gepland:

Very happy that I was selected to participate in a super cool project: TransaRtlantic.
30 Belgian artists were asked by curator Luc Theuwis of ARTandADVICE to make a design for the seat of a transat deckchair.
Produced at White Light, made with solid materials and provided with all possible eco labels.

In 2016-2017 I created ‘House on Basement’ a permanent sculpture in the public space of Herzele,
commissioned by the province of East Flanders and in collaboration with Radio 2.
This summer 'House on Basement', is included in 'ART ON THE MAP',
a cycling route throughout Flanders organized by Radio Klara.

For each province, a bicycle route is mapped out along works of art commissioned by the
Flemish Community, provinces, cities and architects for a specific location.

In 2015 I decided it was time for a publication about my work.
Initially I thought of an advertising brochure in the trend of the Aldi or Gamma advertising newspapers.
I found a company that prints these kind of flutter papers, minimum print run: 10,000 copies. Hahaha!
I had to change the concept and started working on a simple magazine.
During the creating process I suddenly ended up in my very first Lockdown because of a severe pneumonia.
After a six-week house arrest period, the "magazine project" got completely out of hand and transformed into a 150-page book.
After two editions of 150 copies, the demand continued and Francesco Rossi and I decided to release a last edition of 100 copies.

Luc Hoekx '(1964) transparante panelen uit plexiglas zijn aan beide kanten beschilderd met kleurvlakken. Voor- en achterkant zijn tegelijkertijd zichtbaar, maar overlappen elkaar ook op verschillende plaatsen en creëren op die manier obstructies in onze manier van kijken. De transparantie van plexiglas verdwijnt veelal om plaats te maken voor de transparantie van verflagen. Voor- en achterkant worden begrippen die ingeruild kunnen worden. Ze zijn even belangrijk voor het uiteindelijke beeld. Sommige kleurvlakken zijn erg strak geschilderd, terwijl er bij andere vlakken een duidelijke penseelvoering zichtbaar blijft. Voor de toeschouwer ontplooit zich een gelaagd verhaal dat nooit helemaal transparant kan zijn. Het is een verhaal vol overlappingen en poëtische nuances, het verhaal van een beeldtaal die enkel visueel te ontleden is. Bart Geerts http://www.luchoekx.be
Beeldhouwer John Van Oers (1967) beweegt zich met zijn sculpturen tussen licht en zwaar. Zijn ‘notities’ zijn speels, hebben een variabel karakter en komen voort uit de ervaring van het onmiddellijke. Dagelijkse objecten worden onderworpen aan stillering en hun beeldend potentieel onderzocht. De werken van Van Oers neigen naar abstractie maar worden het nooit. De materiaalkeuze is even eerlijk als de onderwerpen. Ontdaan van alle mogelijke ballast spreken natuurlijke materialen in alle eenvoud. Zo ontwikkelt John Van Oers een persoonlijk vocabularium dat zowel autobiografische als zuiver esthetische aspecten aanreikt. Het ‘spelen’ met vorm, inhoud en materiaal blijft de drijfveer. De scenische sculpturen, waarin architectuur en landschap vaak een centrale rol spelen, nodigen uit tot ingrepen van de kijker die op zijn beurt het ‘spel’ van de maker (imaginair?) voortzet.
